Councils

  • ADHA Delegation Chair-Lorie Jones

    The ADHA Delegation Council is composed of the elected delegates and alternate delegates who are elected at the TDHA Annual Session prior to the ADHA Annual Session. A minimum of two years TDHA experience as a TDHA delegate or TDHA council member is necessary prior to running for this position. All candidates for ADHA delegates and alternate delegate must be aware of the duties and financial responsibilities of ADHA delegates as listed in the TDHA Bylaws and facilitation document prior to nomination and election. Currently, Texas has six delegates and 3 alternate delegates serving on this council. 2009 ADHA annual session is being held in Washington, DC, June 17-June 23, 2009. The purposes and objectives of this council are to represent Texas at the national meeting of our professional association and to be effective liaisons between the state and national branches of the association. There is a lot of commitment and work involved with this council but it is very rewarding and affords a great opportunity to network with colleagues from across the nation. It is an intense week at ADHA Annual Session with long days and nights with not much sleep.

    Administration Chair-Ester Ball

    The Administration Council consists of the President-Elect who is considered Chair of the council.  The TDHA Secretary serves as the Secretary for the council.  Members of the council are all members of the Executive Committee, and Chairs of the Standing Committees as follows: Administrative Manual, Budget & Finance, Bylaws, Resolutions, and Technology.  This council prepares the administrative documents for the Association.  The Administration Council also handles the business purchases for the Association such as business cards, stationary, and any necessary equipment.

    Annual Session Tri-Chairs-Jennifer Heisler, Lorie Jones & Cindie Pierce

    The Annual Session Council plans and implements TDHA's premier opportunity for dental hygiene professionals to discuss issues key to the profession. A product presentation is offered along with sponsors and exhibitors to display items of interest to the participants.

    Governmental Affairs Tri-Chairs-Cathy Blunck & Sandy Tesch

    The Governmental Affairs Council is charged with protecting and preserving the education, licensure and scope of practice of the registered dental hygienist. They are active in coalitions, forums and meetings that involve the oral health of the citizens in Texas.

    Member Services Chair-Hope Garza

    As a standing Council of the Texas Dental Hygienists’ Association, the Member Services Council directs cohesive strategies with the state Membership Committees. The Council strives to increase membership through marketing and promoting the value of membership in our professional association.

    A workshop for new membership chairs is held each year to inform new chairs of the workings of ADHA and to coordinate efforts for recruitment, retention, and recognition of members. Periodic communication with the chairs and trustees is submitted through the Leadership Letter and the TDHA Times.

    Member Services maintains a state membership data base including students and sends an informative "New Member Booklet" to all new and reinstated members. TDHA Member Services produces an informative booklet about TDHA for Student members upon graduation. For more information, contact your local Member Services Representative.

    Professional Education Co-Chairs-Beth Stewart & Monna Carpenter-Barin

    The purpose of the Professional Education Council is to develop and implement mechanisms for TDHA to promote continuing education.  This council also reviews and continually updates the guidelines that meet SBDE requirements for C.E.U.’s utilization by components.

    Public Affairs Chair-Kris Potts

    The Public Affairs Council main purpose is to increase public awareness of dental hygienists and create a positive image of the profession of dental hygiene.  This council oversees various public health programs that TDHA performs each year. 

    Student Affairs Co-Chairs-Chrissy Samples & Debbie Lyon

    Student Affairs Council (SAC) develops programs and events for Texas Student American Dental Hygienists' Association's (TX SADHA) Annual Session, send scholarship info. to all schools, evaluate the scholarship applicants and choose the recipients. The Scholarships are: TDHA Scholarship, B.J. Long Memorial Scholarship, Nancy Tibbets Memorial Scholarship, TDHA Nicole Eusebio Memorial Service Scholarship.
