TDHA’s 2021 Awards Program is a way to honor and recognize our members dedication to the dental hygiene profession (in various aspects of the dental hygiene world: clinical, education, public health, research, etc.). The TDHA Community Outreach Award recognizes TDHA individuals have implemented significant community outreach programs and dedicate their time to service and community outreach.

TDHA is pleased to offer professional members of the Texas Dental Hygienists’ Association (TDHA) the opportunity to apply for the Texas Treatment Plan Community Service Grant. This grant would be awarded to a project that aims to address access to care in underserved communities, improves the public’s oral health, and provides oral health care education. Tell us your “treatment plan” for addressing a public health issue in Texas for a chance to be awarded $300.00 to jump start your initiative.
Requirements:

Must be a registered dental hygienist and a member of ADHA

TDHA components, Texas hygienists, and/or dental hygiene students (partnered with registered hygienists are eligible to apply
-
Grant monies are for programs for underserved populations
-
Grant monies cannot be used for administrative costs for the program
-
Programs must include an educational component
-
Program must demonstrate an effort to refer participants to a dental home

Trustees may only submit one nomination per component.
To recognize the distinguished service of a dental hygienist in advancing and promoting the dental hygiene profession.
Requirements:

Must be a registered dental hygienist and a member of ADHA & TDHA.

Nominated by component (one nominee per component)

Letters of recommendation (no more than 3 will be accepted). Recommendation letters to be emailed to tdhamembership@gmail.com

The TDHA Award for Excellence in Dental Hygiene honors a mid-career dental hygienists who have evidence of active involvement in TDHA and its components, exhibit evidence of leadership in and the advancement of dental hygiene experience, provide evidence for the incorporation of any and/or all roles of the dental hygienist to document outstanding leadership and community involvement. Applicants should possess leadership, community outreach, and legislative involvement.
Requirements:

Must have a minimum of 5 years experience as a dental hygienist

Must be a member of the ADHA.
-
Demonstrate evidence of active involvement in constituent and component.

Exhibit evidence of leadership in advancing of dental hygiene profession
-
At least one nomination from a peer

Recognition in TDHA’s official publication
The TDHA Future Leader Award honors dental hygienists who exhibit a strong commitment to the dental hygiene profession and have demonstrated leadership in the American Dental Hygienists' Association within five years of graduation from an accredited dental hygiene program. For 2021, applications will be accepted from graduates in 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 or 2020.

Be a current Active member of ADHA and have continuous Active membership since graduation

Have graduated from an accredited dental hygiene program within the last five years (2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 or 2020)

This award is for an individual that in the last year has demonstrated commitment to legislative works. This includes volunteering for campaigns and building relationships with their legislators.
Requirements:

Must be an ADHA member

Demonstrates active volunteering with legislators

Exhibits evidence of working with legislative members to advance/protect the dental hygiene profession

Outstanding Clinician Award honors a clinical dental hygienist who shows outstanding expertise in relating the interdependence of clinical practice and patient education for the improvement of patient compliance, while making a difference in the lives of their patients/clients.
Requirements:

Must be a registered dental hygienist and a member of ADHA

Must be employed as a dental hygienist in a clinical setting

Must demonstrate quality of care within his/her practice
